Inspirational young people from Hull receive awards
ACE Project volunteers recieve awards
Four young volunteers from Hull and East Yorkshire Mind’s ‘ACE Project’ will receive Hull Youth Volunteering Awards at the KC Stadium this Friday, 26th March.
One of these volunteers, Megan, volunteered for a group that aimed to reduce the stigma of mental health problems. Megan, alongside other volunteers developed the www.gonecrazy.org.uk website to help other people in similar situations.
HEY Mind Service Manager, Claire Thomas said, “Megan threw herself into the project, she also attends project Steering Groups and even gave a talk at the Hull & East Yorkshire Mind Annual General Meeting. She has overcome her own personal mental health problems to help others. She is an inspiration. “
The ACE Project is looking for more young people aged between 16 and 25 to make a contribution to their community. Each group of young people receive £3,000 to plan a project which will help the community. Past groups have created a website, made a DVD, put on a production at the Comedy Festival and organised gigs.
For anyone interested in attending the group and getting involved, HEY Mind are putting on a free buffet lunch on Wednesday 24 March from 12.30 – 2.30 pm. This will be held at Hull & East Yorkshire Mind, Trafalgar House, 41-45 Beverley Road, Hull, HU3 1XH.
To book your place, please call Claire Thomas on 240200 or email cthomas@mindhey.co.uk.
